It's tulip season and Provo, UT is covered with them, including on the lawns of our beautiful LDS Provo Temple; just a five minutes walk away from our house!

Long Time No See I
Goodness, I didn't realize it's been a month tomorrow since I lasted updated my blog!
Just so you know, I haven't fallen off the face of the earth, I've just been way busy in a lot of great projects. As of last month, Chasm is wrapped! We made our deadlines to submit the film to the Student Academy Awards, and we'll see soon what comes of it. I've also jumped onto BYU's next senior film, Owned (2014). In fact, I lit three shots today. I've also been more involved in One Per Person (2013). I got my next Lookdev Assignment and will be jumping on that this weekend. In the meantime, I try to bust out my camera as much as possible and here are a few of my latest works.

Chasm Push
Long time no see! Sorry it's been such a while since my last post, but lots have been happening on this end. I am currently working on two short films right now. The one I'm working on at this moment is Chasm; the BYU 2013 senior animated film. So much to do from now until tomorrow at midnight. We are pushing to have the film done by tomorrow night. Here is one of my shots!

Personal Project: Paradise (In Progress)
This painting is one that I've envisioned for a long time now. It is based off of what I imagine when I listen to the song Paradise, by Coldplay (one of my top favorite bands!) This particular version of my painting was one I didn't intend on making. Ultimately I want to paint this image traditionally in oil, with my littlest sister as the subject. This piece is the first of several that will belong to a collection of personal paintings that I wish to do. Anyways, one night I wanted to do a rough layout of what my painting would look like. So I found a photo with someone posed as closely as I imagined, and painted over it using the environment I envisioned, as well as the way I would have my sister look. And this is it! I'm very happy with it and wish to develop it further.

Painting Prep - Tulips
So for the past hour and a half I've been working in Photoshop to prepare for a painting I'm doing for my best friend. Shown here is my quick study. Again, I did this in Photoshop (I'm terrible at digital painting but trying to get better at it) but the actual painting will be done with oil paint. Hopefully will have updates soon. This year is the year I want to plug away at painting: digitally and traditionally, as well as photography.
However, I did not take this beautiful photo. Here is the link to find it:

Personal Project: Effie Trinket (In Progress)
So excited to launch into this project. Effie will be the first of many personal projects I will embark on for the new year. This particular project was inspired in two ways. The first: during my Christmas holidays, I came across this website on my Pinterest. I was so taken by the style of an artist that I wanted to emulate it. (If you'd like to see the artist's work, let me know and I'll send you a link!) As for choosing a character, I had to start with Effie. The costume, make up, and hair teams must've had a field day with her, along with all other characters from the Capitol.
Here is my first rendering of her. In the days following, she will have more color, detail, and refined all around.
